Who best motivates you?
What have they done to inspire you?
How do they make you feel?
I’m asking because when we’re faced with tough leadership challenges or situations, we tend to put our nose in the books and try to find a proven methodology, case study or intellectual analysis on how to best motivate others.
Granted, what you may read is interesting. And important.
But step back.
Who has been an influential powerhouse in your life? Why?
Reflect on this because this person holds the secret to helping you be the very best leader you can be.
We forget that our common experiences and encounters have more power than textbook readings.
They’ve happened to us.
As a result, apply your learning to leadership scenarios you may be facing.
We’re the product of our environments; make a list of what you admired (and why) in others and go.
